2016 TAX FILING SEASON IN BULGARIA BEGAN

Bulgaria’s National Revenue Agency (NRA) started accepting tax returns. The first tax return for the year was submitted online at 00:23 on 1st of January, Rossen Bachvarov, NRA spokesperson told BNT on 4th of January. The deadline for filing the tax returns this year is 3rd of May.

Bachvarov said that most tax returns this year were expected to be submitted online. In addition to the electronic filing, tax returns can be filed in the NRA offices and by post. If the tax returns are filed by the end of March, there is a 5% discount on the tax owed.

To declare income electronically, taxpayers are required to have personal identification code., which can be obtained free of charge. The forms of the tax returns can be downloaded from the NRA website or are available in all NRA offices in Bulgaria.
