The Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds reported a case involving poisoned Egyptian vultures on April 8.
One of the birds—a female equipped with a tracking transmitter—died after ingesting toxic bait in the Eastern Rhodopes. The second vulture was found in critical condition by a specialized anti-poisoning team. Efforts are currently underway to save the bird’s life.
The police have taken over the case, and an official investigation has been launched.
