An apartment is burning in a block in the Southern Bulgarian city of Blagoevgrad. The fire was reported around 19.00 on December 10.
People have been evacuated from the neighbouring apartments, including children and two recently born babies.

Because of the smoke on the stairs, the residents in the block could not leave and they were evacuated with the assistance firefighters.
The apartment is located on the seventh floor. According to unofficial information, the apartment was inhabited by a single man. According to inofficial information, the man died in the fire. It is not yet clear whether he managed to reach to the staircase, or died inside the flat.
The elelctricity supply to the block has not been stopped. Several Firefighting teams are battling the fire. Police has zoned off the area.
The fire has been contained but has not been extinguished yet.
