The pig-breeding farm in the village of Bulgarsko Slivovo (Northern Bulgaria) is the fifth industrial farm in the country where African Swine Fever was registered. Some 17,000 pigs from the farm will be culled in the next days.
Preparation started for the place where the carcasses of the euthanized animals will be buried. All entries to the farm are guraded by police. Disinfection sites were built.
July 31 is the deadline by which owners of back-yard-grown pigs in the 20 km sanitary zone are required to slaughter them. Checks on whether the requirement was met start as of August 1 and offenders will be sanctioned.
