Employees of the Anti-Corruption Commission launched a probe in the Municipality of the coastal city of Varna, after receiving information in an alert regarding the procedure for concluding and executing a public procurement contract, and an additional annex to it.
The order is from 2021, worth BGN 85,000,000, in the form of a grant under the Operational Programme "Environment", for the purchase of 60 electric buses and 60 chargers for them.
The signal that the anti-corruption body is working on concerns data that the public procurement has been manipulated in favour of a certain contractor and that corrupt actions have been carried out by employees of the Municipality of Varna, including persons holding senior public positions.
Documentation is seized and explanations are taken from officials in the municipal building.
At the same time, employees of the Anti-Corruption Commission request documents from the District Administration - Varna, on the occasion of another inspection, subject to change of the status of properties - private state property and disposal of them, carried out in the period 2018-2020. .
