Anti-epidemic measures will not be tightened despite the increased number of people infected with COVID-19, the Minister of Health Kostadin Angelov, said after the government’s meeting on October 14. The Minister of Education Krassimir Valchev pointed out that at this stage there are no plans to close schools.

Prof. Kostadin Angelov - Minister of Health: Cities will not be locked down, intercity travel checkpoints will not be installed, no restrictive measures will be applied. We need to get used to living along with this virus and follow the measures, because they give the greatest efficiency.

The government has allocated BGN 2.1 million to the Ministry of Health to purchase about 2,500 vials of Remdesivir for the treatment of COVID-19, the health minister said. Currently, the RHIs in the country have 2,837 vials, which will be enough for three weeks.

"Currently, on the territory of Bulgaria on a national scale as of yesterday we have 1,307 people accommodated in medical institutions and 64 in intensive care facilities," the Minister of Health summed up.

The government also will allocate BGN 14 million to schools for computers for students and teachers

At the moment, a complete closure of schools and kindergartens is definitely not envisaged. At the same time, the government allocated BGN 14 million from the budgets of educational institutions to buy 16,000 laptops and tablets. The aim is for the classrooms to be able to function in an electronic environment with electronic notebooks and diaries.

Krassimir Valchev - Minister of Education: We definitely do not envisage the complete closure of schools. To date, a total of 162 children and students have tested positive for the virus and 159 teachers in schools and kindergartens. Nearly 30 days have passed since the beginning of the school year, which means an average of 5 students and 5-6 teachers per day.
