The 30th jubilee edition of Apollonia art festival will be opened tonight, 28th of August, in the Bulgarian ancient seaside town of Sozopol.
Over 70 open-air concerts, exhibitions and plays will be presented on 5 festival stages.
The theatre component of Apollonia will start with a premiere of “Antigone”, directed by Ivan Dobchev.
The documentary “The golden Heart of Sofia” (dedicated to Alexander Nevski cathedral in Sofia) by Nayo Titsin and Goran Blagoev and the feature film “The Sinking of Sozopol” by Kostadin Bonev will be shown for the first time.
The film “The Voice that Prays to God for Bulgaria” by Rossen Elezov will mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of the opera singer Boris Hristov. Lots of classical music, jazz, pop and rock will be performed at the festival this year.
Apollonia art festival is a major event that takes place every year at the end of the summer in the Black Sea town of Sozopol. The festival was first held in 1984. It runs for 10 days. Visitors have the opportunity to enjoy over 70 events – plays, open-air concerts, chamber music and jazz concerts, films, art exhibitions and literary evenings.
