Blagoevgrad temporarily restricts mass events, weddings, baptisms due to increase in coronavirus cases

The crisis management headquarters in the south Bulgarian district of Blagoevgrad on October 16 announced new measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

Due to the increase in the number of infected people, weddings, baptisms and gatherings of large groups of people in restaurants and bars are restricted for 14 days.

At the moment, there is no need to restrict entry and exit from Blagoevgrad, said the municipal crisis management team.

The control over the observance of the rules for obligatory wearing of masks indoors and at a distance, both indoors and in places where many people gather, is being strengthened.

On market days, Saturday and Wednesday, the authorities will carefully monitor whether the distance and restrictions for movement in the area of ​​the outdoor vegetable market in the city, where there is traditionally a large crowd, are carefully observed.

For the time being, the residents and guests of Blagoevgrad will not be obliged to wear masks outdoors.

A 25% increase of patients with COVID-19 in hospitals in Blagoevgrad was reported.

A new record number of coronavirus infections has been reported by the authorities across the district. 91 new cases of COVID-19 have been registered in the last 24 hours, and almost half of those infected are from the Blagoevgrad regional center.
