Bulgaria’s Parliament unanimously backed the actions of the Bulgarian road hauliers and on 19th of February adopted a declaration to call on the Greek authorities to take the necessary measures to establish order and ensure free movement across the border. It also urges the Bulgarian authorities to continue their efforts on solving the crisis.
The declaration was approved by all 186 MPs present in Parliament. It was adopted in relation to the deepening crisis with the blockades staged by protesting Greek farmers at Bulgaria’s border with Greece.
The MPs also call on the European Commission to take actions and initiate an infringement procedure against Greece for failing to lift the border blockades. The Parliament expressed confidence that the crisis would not lead to worsening the relation between the two countries.
