"With German Chancellor Angela Merkel, we support the countries of the Western Balkans on their path to the EU. Bulgaria will continue to work actively in this direction during our joint presidency with the Republic of North Macedonia of the Berlin Proces," Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said on October 16 in his official Facebook profile.

"I appreciate the efforts of the German Presidency of the Council of the EU to find the right solutions to protect the health of all European citizens, as well as economic life," Borissov added.
The PM also spoke with French President Emmanuel Macron, to whom he said the EU needed to act in a coordinated manner in the fight against the pandemic.
"But member states should not be deprived of the opportunity to make independent decisions," Borissov added.
