Taxes will go up gradually but not as a rate but as a volume, the Chair of Parliament’s Budget committee Menda Stoyanova said in the BNT breakfast shown on 31st of October on the occasion of the upcoming discussion of the draft budget for 2019. According to her, raising the upper threshold on which a wage earner's Social Security tax is imposed is not tax increase.
She stressed that the economy cannot be developed without the appropriate funds and policies for education, which is why it is among the budget priorities for the next year.
Every year there is a record budget because it is growing - the budget has increased by BGN 10 billion over the past two years, which means that the economy is growing and the budget revenues are more, explained Menda Stoyanova.
In her words, "taxes will go up not as rates but as volume," because of which the huge revenue growth has been achieved, with no taxes going up.
In the tax on cars, there will be reallocation of the burden, because the tax burden for cars that do not pollute so much the environment will be reduced, she added.
The increase in the social security wage base is not equal to increasing the tax as there is an increase of the average and minimum wage, but not in the social security taxable earnings.
