The Bulgarian Border Police detained a large group of illegal migrants at the railway station in Kapitan Andreevo checkpoint, at the Border with Turkey, Bulgaria’ Ministry of Interior announced on 10th of March. The group included 43 men women and children, without any ID documents, travelling on a freight train.
On the night of 9th of March, an hour before midnight, border police officers noticed the group of migrants on one of the wagons of a freight train, consisting of empty wagons for transportation of cars. The train was arriving from Turkey and was on its route via Bulgaria and Romania to Austria.
The illegal migrants admitted they got on the train at the station in the Turkish city of Edirne. Some of them claimed they were from Iraq, other claimed they were from Syria, the MoI said. Their identities are being checked.
