Bulgaria’s Chief Prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov filed a request to the National Assembly on 7th of July seeking for lifting the immunity of an MP from the Movement of Rights and Freedoms, Alexander Metodiev, also known as Bat Sali.
The reason for the chief prosecutor’s request was that on 1st of May, while driving to the town of Kostenets, the MP did not stop after police officers displayed a hand-held stop sign and later behaved rudely and obscenely with the police officers who wanted to issue a penalty ticket to a friend of his for not having ID documents with him.
The grounds of the chief prosecutor were that Metodiev violated two articles of the Penal Code, which provide for up to 2 years of imprisonment or probation.
