Bulgaria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 21st of March presented the team, which will coordinate the work on the campaign for Irina Bokova, the Bulgarian candidate nominated for the post of the United Nation’s Secretary-General.
The 16 member team includes: Maria Donska, head of the ministry’s Unesco department; Maria Pavlova, Acting Director of Directorate “UN and Co-operation for Development”; Raiko Raichev, Director General of Global Affairs General Directorate; Borislav Kostov, Direcor General of Bilateral Relations General Directorate; Danail Chakarov, Acting Director of International Law and EU Law Directorate; Maria Spasova, Acting Director of Human Rights Directorate.
The team will be headed by Raiko Raichev.
The allocated budget amounts to 106,000 BGN and was approved by the Bulgarian Council of Ministers in 2014.
The campaign in support of Irina Bokova will consist of three phases: hearing of the candidates; examination of the candidacies and presentation before the UN Security Council and the selection.
Bokova, who is in her second term of office as Head of UNESCO, was nominated for the post of Secretary-General of the United Nations through a formal letter, sent on 9th of February, by Bulgaria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
