Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov had a telephone conversation with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on November 9.

The focus of the two leaders' talks was the significance of the Berlin Process Summit, co-hosted tomorrow by Bulgarian Prime Minister and Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia Zoran Zaev.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the forum will be held via video conference.

EC President Ursula von der Leyen confirmed to the Bulgarian Prime Minister that she will take part in the meeting of the leaders of the Berlin Process, which is the final event in the calendar of this year's joint presidency of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia.

"Bulgaria has accepted the responsibility this year to jointly host the process as a natural continuation of the efforts of our country during the preparation and Bulgaria’s presidency of the Council of the EU, which put the integration processes of the Western Balkans high on the European agenda," PM Borissov pointed out. He noted that the European perspective for the Western Balkans means stability, peace and prosperity in the region.

In this context, important documents will be signed at the Summit tomorrow, aimed at further integrating the region into EU norms and standards.
