On 9th of March, Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov appeared in court as a witness in the trail against former Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev who had been accused of losing seven documents with classified information while in office.
The court sitting was held behind closed doors. The testimony lasted for half an hour.
Soon after being elected Prime Minister in 2009, Boyko Borissov said that the prosecutor's office had been informed about missing reports by the State Agency for National Security (SANS).
The investigation started in 2009 after Borissov was handed a copy of the missing classified document by the former SANS advisor, Aleksei Petrov.
