"The meetings with Queen Elizabeth II remain an unforgettable memory of wisdom, of goodwill and of the amazing way she transferred the lessons of the past to the challenges of our time," Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev told journalists in London on September 19.
"There are few personalities like Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who left such a deep and vivid mark in world history with foresight, strong statesmanship and dedication to her mission in the service of her country and people," the President emphasized.
He said it was no coincidence that even after her death, Queen Elizabeth II continued to unite – people in the UK waited for days to pay their respects to her memory, and heads of state and government from around the world came to the funeral ceremony in London.
"We are here to express our sincere condolences on behalf of the Bulgarian people to the royal family and to the people of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland," Rumen Radev said.
The Head of State congratulated His Majesty Charles III on being proclaimed King.
"I believe that he will continue the worthy work of Queen Elizabeth," Rumen Radev added and expressed confidence that guided by common values and interests Bulgaria and Great Britain will deepen and enrich their cooperation for the sake of peace and prosperity in Europe.
Rumen Radev is in the capital of the United Kingdom together with his wife Desislava Radeva, where they are attending the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.
