Bulgaria’s Prime Minister, Acad. Nikolai Denkov, on January 5, paid his last respects to Jacques Delors, who died on 27 December at the age of 98, the Council of Ministers said on its Facebook page. The Prime Minister took part in the farewell ceremony at the memorial complex "House of the Disabled" in Paris.
Acad. Denkov expressed his deep condolences to the family and friends of Jacques Delors, as well as to all Europeans, the message said.
The ceremony was presided over by French President Emmanuel Macron. A number of European leaders attended, including the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, European Council President Charles Michel, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
The father of the euro, as Delors was called, died on 27 December. He is regarded as one of the architects of a united Europe.
