Bulgarian border police officers have intercepted an attempt of a Greek citizen to ssmuggle a migrant in his lorry at Kulata - Promahon border crossing, the Interior Ministry said on 26th of February. The Greek driver and the illegal migrant were detained and handed over to the Greek police authorities.
Last night (25th of February) at 22:00 at Kulata - Promahon border crossing a Ford car with a Greek registration arrived in Bulgaria. The driver was a 51-year-old Greek citizen.
After checking the identity document,a Bulgarian border police officer, ordered the driver to open the boot for a physical check. At this point, the driver set off with the car, trying to frustrate the check. The car went to the Greek shop, which was after Promahonn, followed by three Bulgarian border police officers. The driver stopped at the parking lot in front of the shop and walked to the car's boot.
The border police officers who arrived at that time found that there was a hidden man in the boot, who had no ID documents and said he was an Iraqi citizen. The driver and the illegal migrant were detained.
