Bulgarians have created a drone that could fundamentally change the way goods are transported over distances of up to 2,500 kilometres. The first remote-controlled cargo drone was created by Bulgarians - the brothers Svilen and Konstantin Rangelovi and so far has no analogue in the world.
The world's first airline with cargo drones is Bulgarian. The team has already successfully completed its first test flight with the “Black Swan” aircraft at Balchik Airport. The two brothers, Konstantin and Svilen Rangelovi, have been developing the project for nearly 10 years. And the reason for their great success is the good Bulgarian cheese. Konstantin missed it a lot when he studied aeronautical engineering in the Netherlands. He once called his brother and told him:
"When are you coming to visit me to bring me some nice Bulgarian cheese. I told him I was not going to get on a plane to bring some cheese. You are an engineer, think of something, I said. So now we have made a drone that can go the distance from Bulgaria to the Netherlands and with much more than 1 kg of cheese," says Svilen Rangelov, co-founder of the unmanned cargo drone company.
The "Black Swan" can carry a load of up to 350 kg, at a distance of up to 2,500 km. The “flying van” as they call it, needs only 400 m to land and take off, can do it even if there is no smooth surface.
"We plan to start the first cargo flights at the end of this year to Greece - we will transport spare parts, electronics, pharmaceutical and medical products," says Svilen Rangelov.
The aircraft is operated completely remotely by experienced pilots. The two brothers have made a promise not to shave until they make their first successful flight. So today for the first time in 9 years they are seen without beard.
