“In Bulgaria, the ruling government and the opposition are unanimous on the South Stream project, unlike on other issues. South Stream is an important national project, which will ensure security for the country”, said the Bulgarian Foreign Minister, Kristian Vigenin, on Tuesday, 22 April, in relation to the recommendation of the European Parliament for suspension of the South Stream gas pipeline project.
Vigenin added that the meaning of the resolution should not be exaggerated as it resulted from an emotional expression of the European Parliament’s desire for faster political and economic stabilization of Ukraine.
Vigenin also said that the South Stream project was not the obstacle in the relations between Russia and the European Union, but was a lever for solution of other pressing issues.
