Bulgarian-Egyptian Joint Cooperation Commission will hold its first meeting in January 2019. This was agreed by Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi during their official meeting in Cairo on 23rd of October. Bulgaria can offer to Egypt food, expertise in health and education, Borissov said. His Egyptian host expressed his utmost respect for Bulgaria, which, in his words, is a very important country for the presentation of Egypt to the EU.
Increasing investments, joint projects in the energy sector and the fight against terrorism and extremism - these are the highlights of the meeting of Prime Minister Boyko Borissov with Egypt's President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
The two have discussed the Syrian, Libyan and Palestinian crisis.
The two Prime Ministers agreed that a joint Bulgarian-Egyptian commission would hold its first meeting in Bulgaria in January 2019.
Boyko Borissov: Here I see a very great place to cooperate in combating migration, in combating the illegal export of artifacts, cultural and historical values that both Bulgaria and Egypt are probably the richest in the world.
In conclusion, Egypt’s President expressed the utmost respect that Egypt has had to Bulgaria for decades.
Abdel Fattah el-Sisi: Bulgaria plays an exceptionally important role in conveying the message that Egypt is an important security factor in the region. We in Egypt consider Bulgaria as important for stability and security. Your country carries our voice to the EU.
Boyko Borissov: An EU-Egypt meeting is prepared for February in Egypt. A visit right on time, I would say, and a perspective in the Bulgarian-Egyptian relations amidst the EU's global decision to work ever closer with Egypt.
