From Friday 20th of November to Sunday 22nd of November, police officers from the South Bulgarian coastal city of Bourgas disrupted 4 attempts of people smuggling suspects to transport illegal migrants from the region of Bulgaria’s border with Turkey to the interior of the country.
Five cars and 66 undocumented persons have been detained at the exits of Bourgas and in the city. They claimed they were from Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The migrants are interviewed through interpreters.
The drivers of the vehicles are from Sofia,the towns of Lyubimets and Harmanli (located in South Bulgaria). They have previous criminal records. One of the suspected traffickers managed to escape and the police are now searching for him.
