At the forthcoming General Affairs Council in a few days, which will discuss the EU enlargement process, Bulgaria will adhere to the 2019 Framework Position on the Republic of North Macedonia. This was decided by the caretaker cabinet at its meeting today, December 8.
Bulgaria believes that Albania is ready to make progress on the path to the EU, and is ready to support the adoption of the Negotiating Framework for the country and the holding of the first Intergovernmental Conference. The cabinet also points out that the leading criterion for Sofia remains the merits of each candidate country.
