Bulgaria’s cabinet approved on 15th of June a second package of amendments to the Judiciary System Act. The provisions set out the principles of the so-called court self-governance, the new powers granted to the Supreme Judicial Council’s Inspectorate, career development of magistrates, reform in the prosecutor’s office, the status of Judicial assistants and prosecutorial assistants, as well as the rules for the exams for legal competency.
The proposed amendments are part of the implementation of judiciary reform strategy and the recommendations, which were given under the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism, Bulgaria’s Minister of Justice said after the meeting.
The most important, according to her, is that there all guarantees for independence and impartiality and taking responsibility by judges, prosecutors and investigators.
