Bulgaria’s Kristalina Georgieva among the names for European Council president

Kristalina Georgieva, a Bulgarian member of the European People’s Party (EPP), could be the next President of the European Council. The summit of the European leaders in Brussels continues on 1^st of July. They met on 31^st of June, Sunday to decide who wins the EU’s top posts - the President of the European Commission, of the European Parliament, the European Council and the European Central Bank.

European Union leaders are close to awarding socialist Dutchman Frans Timmermans the job of European Commission President, with the center-right Kristalina Georgieva lined up to head the European Council, two diplomats said as quoted by Reuters on 1^st of July. Belgium’s Prime Minister Charles Michel is a strong candidate for the job of EU foreign policy chief, Reuters says.
