On 4th of August, the Bulgarian Parliament passed at second reading the update of the National Health Insurance fund (NHIF) budget for 2014. The additional funding of 225 million BGN for NHIF is based on reduction in the expenses of ministries’ budgets.
200 million BGN of the total amount will be allocated for hospitals and 25 million BGN for medicines for cancer treatment.
As a result of the amendments to the law on the NHIF budget, the MPs also amended the law on the state budget to refelct the additional transfer at the amount of 225 million BGN.
The Parliament provided additional 50 million BGN for prevention and management of the consequences from disasters. The funds will be provided from the finances for investments and programmes in the energy sector.
This was the last plenary sitting of the 42nd National Assembly.
