400 soldiers will take part in the clean-up in the flood-hit villages of Karavelovo, Bogdan and Slatina from tomorrow, announced the caretaker Prime Minister Galab Donev on September 14.

The cabinet will also allocate 200,000 litres of drinking water from the state reserve for the people there.

Donev announced that there is a need for more people to get involved in the clean-up and dealing with the aftermath of the natural disaster and thanked all the volunteers. Electricity has already been restored in the villages, he explained, and pointed out that work is underway to restore street lighting.

"In order to speed up the recovery after the flood, the government together with the governor of Plovdiv, the mayors of municipalities and the mayors of settlements continue with more people and equipment the clean-up activities in the flooded villages of Karavelovo, Bogdan and Slatina. It is important for us that the homes and yards of the people there are cleared as soon as possible. Tomorrow, an additional 400 troops and equipment will take part in the clean-up. On Friday officials from the District and Municipal Administration in Plovdiv and neighbouring districts will be in the flooded villages to continue clearing people's houses and yards. The power supply to people's homes has been restored and work is underway to restore street lighting in the affected villages, and within 3 weeks the infrastructure, streets, bridges and river ravines will be fully restored and cleaned up accordingly," said Donev.
