An 11-year-old boy from the village of Trud, Plovdiv, was on a freight railway carriage, where he got injured by a voltaic arc. The child has 65% burns. According to the investigators, the student attempted to take a selfie, but the mother claims that this was negligence on behalf of the child.
The signal for the heavy incident was reported to the emergency number 112 at 15:20 on Tuesday afternoon, 21st of August. Ambulance and police arrived at Trud station. The 11-year-old Stoyan was removed from the carriage with heavy burns on his face and limbs, but was conscious. According to his mother, the child was on the freight carriage because of an argument with an employee at the station.
Plovdiv District Prosecutor's Office is also investigating another version of what happened. According to the testimony of four witnesses, the boy climbed the carriage to take photos. A telephone was found at the scene of the incident.
The prosecutor also said that this was an unfortunate incident. There is no evidence that the child was left without supervision and not looked after.
The child is in resuscitation in hospital and his condition remains serious.
