Covid-19: People with antibody levels higher than 150 BAU/ml will be eligible to Green Certificate

From Thursday this week (November 11), people with antibodies whose indicators meet certain criteria will be entitled to Covid-19 green certificate.

The requirement is to take a laboratory test and if the values of the test result ​​exceed the levels set by the experts, a certificate valid for 90 days can be issued.

Only antibodies of the IgG type will be required. A green certificate will be issued to people who have IgG above 150 BAU/ml.

Those values ​​of IgG in BAU/ml are accepted by the WHO as an equalizing indicator, Stoycho Katsarov, Bulgaria’s caretaker minister of health, said during a briefing on November 9. The level of over 150 BAU/ml IgG is ten times higher than the reference value, which indicates that the person is protected.

For this purpose, any tests that are C-certified and have a sensitivity of over 90% can be used.

“Information Services” company said the issuing of green certificates of antibodies will start of from Thursday, November 11.

The results of the antibody tests must also be dated after 11 November.

To this end, each laboratory is required to be integrated into the National Health Information System in order to be able to send the results of antibody tests.

As soon as the results enter the system, people will be able to get their certificate from his.bg or from the laboratory that conducted the antibody test.

The green certificate based on antibodies will be valid only in Bulgaria and will have nothing to do with travelling abroad.

There are 30% more people infected with COVID-19 compared to the previous waves, commented the caretaker Minister Stoycho Katsarov.

The number of deaths, compared to the number of those currently infected, is 3.5. The highest value recorded since August is 5.6. For comparison - the mortality from the previous waves reached 10.

Obviously, the medical professionals are doing better in the current wave, therefore the mortality is lower, relative to the number of infected, added Katsarov

The number of hospitalisations, relative to the number of infected, is also lower than in previous Covid-19 waves.

The green antibody certificate will also apply to students and it will not be necessary for them to take tests.

Stoycho Katsarov called for calm about the problems with the supply of tests in schools. Further 80,000 tests will be delivered today. The total quantity ordered is over 1.4 million tests.

The health authorities are doing everything possible to deliver the entire amount of tests to the Ministry of Education and Science by the end of the week or next Tuesday at the latest.

For the upcoming elections, the Ministry of Health has proposed to the Central Election Commission (CEC) that all members of the polling stations commissions have a green certificate. If any of them do not have a green certificate, the health authorities are ready to provide free-of-charge tests.

The CEC rejected the proposal of the health authorities. Therefore, the elections will be held under the anti-epidemic measures, under which the previous elections were held this year. The presence of a green certificate will remain only recommended.
