Customs officers seized 88,000 tablets containing precursor for illicit manufacture of methamphetamine

The customs officers at "Kapitan Andreevo" checkpoint (at Bulgaria's border with Turkey) seized 88,000 tablets containing pseudoephedrine - a precursor for methamphetamine production.

On February 1, a truck with foreign registration arrived at the checkpoint on its way from Turkey to Poland. The driver, a Polish citizen, presented regular documents for the goods pseudoephedrine - a precursor for methamphetamine production. transported - wrapping foil.

The vehicle was selected for a thorough customs inspection with X-ray, and abnormal densities were spotted in the front part of the semi-trailer.

On subsequent physical inspection, it was found that 11 blister packs of the medicinal preparation 'Sudafed' were concealed under the pallets with declared goods. A total of 88,000 tablets were found, each containing 60 mg of the ingredient pseudoephedrine, which according to Council Regulation (EC) No 111/2005 is a precursor for the synthesis of narcotic drugs.

The driver of the lorry was issued a ticket under the Customs Act.
