On 10th of July, the European Commission requested Bulgaria to properly apply the European law in five sectors. This does not mean an infringement procedure has been started, but if Bulgaria continues to be in breach, it may be taken to court, announced the BNT correspondent in Brussels, Vladislav Velev.
The EC requirements are in the areas of transport, healthcare, fisheries, environment and consumer rights. Bulgaria is not the only member state, which failed to comply with their obligations under the EU law.
17 other countries are requested to improve their Functional Airspace Blocs. Bulgaria was also requested to start full implementation of the cross-border healthcare Directive, to ensure electronic exchange of fisheries information with other member states, to improve the protection of citizens from fine dust pollution and to implement the Consumer Rights Directive into its national legislation.
