The civil platform of the former President, Georgi Parvanov, ABV (Alternative for Bulgarian Revival) will register an alternative left-wing list for the European elections in May 2014. At a special press conference Georgi Parvanov stated he was neither forming a new party, nor leaving the Bulgarian Socialist Party. ABV civil platform will take part in the European elections in a coalition with other parties, but he declined to disclose the names.
The former Foreign Minister, Ivailo Kalfin, will run for the elections and head the list backed by Georgi Parvanov’s civil platform. On Monday, 13th January, Kalfin resigned as head of the group of MEPs from the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) in the European Parliament.
