The great Bulgarian actress, Tatyana Lolova, known as the “queen of theatre”, passed away on March 23. The favourite actress of the audience died at the age of 87. In recent days, she was admitted to Pirogov emergency hospital in Sofia, where she has been treated for Covid-19.
Infinitely talented and fascinating personality, she always addressed people with very kind words and was supportive to others.
With her huge talent and acting range, with her numerous roles on the stage, TV screen and films, Tatyana Lolova won the hearts of many generations.
She was born on 10 February 1934 in the Bulgarian capital city of Sofia. Tatyana graduated from the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts in 1955. In 1955, she was appointed in Rousse Theatre, where Lolova remained until the end of 1956 when she joined the troupe of the newly founded Satirical Theatre Aleko Konstantinov in Sofia.
During her career, Tatyana Lolova worked for TV theatre and cinema.
She also performed on the stage of Theatre 199, where she celebrated 10 years of the hit one-actor show Duende based on lyrics by Rumyana Apostolova, Lorca and others, directed by Sani Saninski – more than 300 performances have been given in Bulgaria and abroad.
One of her latest major theatrical roles was in the production of director Stilian Petrov based on Maraguerite Duras - "The Ship of Night" at the Azaryan Theatre, National Palace of Culture. For the first time, the performance brought together on one stage the great Bulgarian actresses Tatyana Lolova, Tsvetana Maneva, Plamena Getova and Petya Silyanova.
Lolova was married to Svetoslav Svetoslavov from 1963 until his death on December 26, 2018.
