The ferret Appa has the role of an oracle in the BNT sports programme “Today at Euro 2016”, which is broadcast every day after the midday newscast “Around the World and at Home” on BNT. The ferret is the first animal-soothsayer to make predictions on Bulgarian national air for Euro 2016 results.
Appa was recruited by the sports journalist Radostin Lyubomirov and on 14th of June made its debut as an oracle.
Appa’s task was to foretell the result of the forthcoming football match between Hungary and Austria, which will kick off at 19.30 Bulgarian time. Appa had to choose between three plates with his favourite food – one for the victory of Hungary, one for the victory of Austria and a draw. The concerns that the ferret may get nervous in front of the TV cameras were unreasonable as he fulfilled his mission just like a real star.
Appa chose the food plate with Hungary which is deemed to be the predicted winner.
Whether ferret Appa gets his predictions right or not, we will find out later tonight.
