FINANCE MINISTER POROZHANOV: ASSESSMENT AND ANALYSIS BY THE FINANCE MINISTRY SHOWS BUDGET REVISION IS INEVITABLE

The assessments and analysis which the Ministry of Finance is carrying out at the moment on the revenue and expenditure of the budget, will inevitably lead to proposal for budget revision, the caretaker Finance Minister Roumen Porozhanov said after the regular weekly meeting of the government on Wednesday, 27th of August.

The proposal for budget revision needs to be tabled as soon as the new National Assembly takes office. Porozhanov also pointed out that there would be no selected contractors for a significant number of projects of the ministries under the public investment programme, for which the government led by the former Prime Minister Oresharski allocated 500 milion BGN. Thereby, the forecast of the Finance Ministry is that some 150 million BGN can be saved from this programme and used for other financial purposes.

According to the Minister, the actions to update the budget will start after the 15th of September when it will be clear to what extent the payments under the two operational programmes, OP “Environment” and OP “Regional Development”, will be resumed.
