The fire at "Arsenal" arms manufacturer in the town of Kazanlak has been contained. A landfill on the territory of the plant caught fire. Firefighters have been battling the flames for 12 hours. Fire-fighting teams continue to pour water on the fire site.
"The wood waste which is piled up in one place is burning. There is no danger of spreading. The fire has been contained. A control line has been completed with chain equipment. It is far away from the production," Kaloyan Vidolov, senior fire-safety inspector from Kazanlak, told BNT on November 1.
An internal commission will clarify how the dumping ground caught fire.
There is currently no data on the air quality.
The landfill is located in the southern part of the military plant. There is no danger to the Arsenal's production workshops and warehouses, as the landfill is a long distance away from them.
Initial information that the fire was at the landfill site to destroy discarded products was not confirmed.
The report of the fire was lodged around 11.30 pm last night. The flames were visible almost from the whole of Kazanlak and surrounding settlements.
