The five officials of Agency's regional department in the seaside city of Burgas were indicted on 29 August on allegations of organized crime and bribery. The procedure was under the Specialized Prosecution.
They were arrested on Wednesday in a joint operation by the police and the Specialized Prosecution.
The Director of the Agency regional department who is supposed to be the leader of the criminal group, is among the detainees.
Each of the detainees is charged with alledged participation in organized crime and forceful bribe getting.
Leads collected so far show that the criminal group has been active sinse 2016.
Through repeated fake inspections of business premises in resorts within Burgas region the gangsters, in their capacity of civil servants, used to stop true inspections made by their colleagues from the food safety department.
