More districts in Bulgaria reported increasing flu activity. As of today, January 24, an influenza epidemic has been declared in Pleven district (Central-Northern Bulgaria).
The flu epidemic is extended until the end of the month in Smolyan district (Southern Bulgaria), where the anti-epidemic measures were initially introduced for a period until today, January 24, but due to high levels of morbidity the period is being extended. From tomorrow, January 25, an influenza epidemic is declared in Sofia district, Varna and Burgas.
So far, a total of 7 districts in Bulgaria have introduced temporary measures against the spread of the influenza virus and acute respiratory illnesses. Both Yambol and Pernik are expected to introduce anti-epidemic measures by the end of the week.
