The Appellate Criminal Court on 11th of October upheld the remand measure for the offenders in the cancer drugs shady affair. Thus, the manager of the private Sofia Hematology Hospital "John Paul", Dr. Nadezhda Baldjiyska, her daughter Dr. Zora Baldjiyska and the pharmacist from St. Mina oncology hospital, Svetlana Tyulekova, remain under house arrest.
This judge panel also accepted that the three detainees had serious illnesses, which prevented their stay in the detention facility. The remaining four from the group are remanded.
All seven detainees are accused of having participated in an organised criminal group that illegally sold cancer drugs that were delivered to sick patients, but not administered to them. Some of the medications were replaced by similar ones but of non-established origin or expired.
