26 out of every 100,000 people in Bulgaria are dying from COVID-19, data on the 14-day mortality rate reveals. Thus, the record death toll during the third Covid-19 wave was exceeded by 24 per 100,000.
Montana and Vidin have the highest death rates - more than 60 people per 100,000 die from coronavirus. Both districts have been on the top of this negative ranking for days. Gabrovo, Kyustendil and Smolyan are the other districts in which too many people die relative to their population size.
More people died in October this year (3,106) than in October and November last year (3,001).
In the first two days of November alone, nearly 400 people died. If we compare the number of deaths that are announced every Tuesday, it is clear that the trend is upwards.
Against the background of high death rate, only 22% of the people in the country are vaccinated. However, the trend is towards smooth uptake. Since the introduction of the green certificates system, the number of fully vaccinated has increased by almost 2%. Nearly 1,519,000 people have completed course of vaccination.
