GERB and UDF sign partnership agreement for local elections

The Agreement reads that the parties will have separate candidates for mayors but mutual support in the second electoral round is indispensable. The preelection unification aims at its becoming the first political force in the country with the greatest number of mayors and representatives to the municipal councils.

GERB has not yet nominated their candidate for Mayor of Sofia but Yordanka Fandakova (current Mayor of the capital city) who attended the signing ceremony Tuesday was praised by PM Boyko Borissov of her excellent work in the last 10 years.

The UDF leader Rumen Hristov expressed his confidence that the two parties would also agree on the issue of the large communities and prevent them from being governed by the oppositon Bulgarian Socialist Party. As to the ellection campaign he believes it would be a continuation of their common success in the European parliamentary elections.

The ceremony was not open to the media.
