By order of caretaker Prime Minister, Galab Donev, on October 26, 2022, Petar Kirkov was appointed National Cyber Security Coordinator for Bulgaria.
He is the Director of the Network and Information Security Directorate at the Ministry of e-Governance, where he is responsible for national and European policies and regulations related to cybersecurity and data protection and the National Computer Security Incident Response Team (CERT-BG).
Petar Kirkov graduated from the Technical University of Sofia, in the specialty “Communication Engineering and Technology”. His career has been in the field of cyber security, at various levels, in public and private sector organizations.
During his 18 years of experience, he has been involved in numerous projects related to data protection, design and implementation of highly reliable and high-performance IT systems, communication networks and solutions to protect corporate information assets and resources.
He has led a consulting and IT audit unit in a Big4 company.
Kirkov is registered as an expert in the Bulgarian judicial system with experience in digital forensics.
