Greek farmers protested on 24th of January near Kulata – Promahon border crossing in disagreement with the expected ratification of the Prespa Treaty to change the name of Macedonia. Police in the Serres region took measures to stop the protesters’ attempts to reach the border.
Despite the increased police presence, Greek farmers still managed to reach the Kulata - Promahon border crossing. However, this happened without agricultural machinery and tractors.
Protesters blocked the border crossing for about ten minutes. It happened shortly after 17:00 when the traffic was stopped, but no queues of vehicles were formed. By the end of the day, no second blockade is expected from the Greek farmers.
