The head of the obstetrics and gynaecology ward at the University Hospital "Deva Maria" in Bourgas died this morning, October 17, after a severe illness from COVID-19.
Prof. Dr. Georgi Hubchev, aged 66, was diagnosed with coronavirus on October 2. After his condition deteriorated, the doctor was intubated.
In 2019, Prof. Hubchev was elected "Doctor of the Year" in Bourgas and awarded by the mayor of the city.
"It is with great sadness that we write to inform that early this morning Prof. Dr. Georgi Hubchev passed away. The loss is huge and we know that it is not only a loss for us, but also for the many patients he has helped in his life. ", his colleagues wrote on the Facebook page of the hospital.
