Health care assistants from the emergency ward of the hospital in Vidin started a hunger strike today, November 10.
They say that they have received only partial payment for front-line work in the conditions of Covid-19, and are demanding full payment, as well as the resignation of the hospital management.
"It will be a relay hunger strike until our demands are met," Sasha Kopcheva, a healthcare assistant at the ER said.
The protest was organized by the" Health" Trade Union of the National Trade Union “Protection”.
The heath care assistants say they worked under the same conditions, and the money for the front-line work was unevenly distributed. In order to re-balance, they decided to split the payments among themselves.
The hospital management said that the funding for front-line work is paid out following the Ministry of Health methodology, and there are no grounds for protests.
