Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev had a telephone conversation with US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Matthew Boyce, the Presidency's press office said on October 28.
Matthew Boyce expressed US support for Bulgaria's hosting of the presidential Initiative "Three Seas" in 2021, which aims to promote transport, energy and digital connectivity in the region of Eastern Europe.
It is common view that the inclusion of all participating countries in the Three Seas Investment Fund is key to bringing more pragmatism into the form of regional cooperation.
The United States is expected to support the fund with a donation of $ 1 billion.
The head of state highlighted the importance of business, as well as international financial institutions, which can be involved in the implementation of joint projects.
Expanding the geographical scope of the initiative and attracting partners such as Greece and Cyprus to implement joint projects was also among the topics of the meeting.
