Industrial companies alert that they will pay higher prices for natural gas in November

Industrial companies on november 3 published a protest letter, in which they demand assurances for the natural gas price for November. They claim that some businesses will experience not a decrease, but an increase of prices with close to 30% more than the one confirmed by energy watchdog, the Energy and Water Regulatory Commision.

“We insist that “Bulgargaz” EAD submits a new altered appilcation for affirmation of the prices of natural gas for November, in which all factors, that make the decrease of the claimed price possible, be taken into account.“ the statement says.

They motivate their demands with the fact that for November there is a decrease for some users and an increase for others when it comes to the price of natural gas. According to the supply contracts between industrial consumers and public supplier “Bulgargaz”, the industry pays for natural gas based on the the proposed price rather than the established one.

According to the companies, the Bulgarian industry will pay BGN 113,87 per megawatt-hour in November, not BGN 93,19.

“The “decrease” of the price turned out to be an “increase” by 27%, compared to October, for the industry. In the meantime, the manufacturing companies in Bulgaria continue paying the highest price for electricity in Europe, while the energy-intensive industries are not on the map of the government,” the organisations claim in the letter.

They urge that “Bulgargaz” present a new application, thay insits on cancellling the decison of the energy regulator, and a fair distribution of the benefits from the settlement between “Gazpromexport” and “Bulgargaz”.

The companies emphasize that if the nergy regulator (EWRC) does not respond, they will demand the resignation of its chairman and the matter will be brought to the competent court and the European Commission.
