JOINT COORDINATION CENTRE TO LOOK AFTER PUBLIC SECURITY AT SUNNY BEACH RESORT

A joint coordination centre will be set up in the Black Sea coastal region of Bourgas to enhance the security for residents and tourists.

The Chief Secretary of Bulgaria’s Ministry of Interior Georgi Kostov said on 17th of June that the centre will include employees of Bulgaria’s National Revenue Agency, State Agency for National Security, Chief Directorate for Countering Organised Crime and the Regional Police Station “Sunny Beach”. The manager of the structure will be a police officer seconded from the National Police Service. The idea is to appoint uniformed police officers at all entry and exit points of the resort to check motor vehicles and people going in and out and monitor the goods they bring, the origin of goods, whether taxes and excises were paid and others, Kostov added.

He explained that the police will start watching for bar crawls and organized groups, which take part in the so called alcohol tourism. Police will require and check lists of participants in bar crawls and check if there are juveniles in them.

The coordination centre will aim to ensure the calm and safety of holiday-makers along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, Bulgaria’s Minister of Interior Rumyana Bachvarova said. She added she expected good results from the work of the joint coordination centre.
