Mayor of Kostenets under investigation for corruption

The specialised prosecutor's office, with the assistance of the Anti-Corruption Commission and the police, investigate the Mayor of Kostenets, Radostin Radev, for corrupt practices, the press office of the Appellate Prosecutor's Office said on June 17.

An operation is taking place in the building of the municipality, gathering evidence of these charges.

According to unconfirmed information, Kostenets' mayor was arrested early in the morning in his home. So far, there has been no formal statement from the police about the detention.

Radostin Radev has 12 years of experience in the private sector and 8 years as a municipal councilor. He became Mayor of Kostenets with the support of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP).
